North Texas Women’s Health Care is excited to announce that Kristen Ramirez, MD will be joining our practice in late November or early December, 2018. She will see patients in our Keller and Alliance locations and will deliver babies and perform surgeries at Texas Health Harris Hospital, Alliance. Dr. Gagnon and Dr. White believe she will be an asset to our team of outstanding physicians. With the departure of Dr. Brian Welsh, she is thrilled to take care of his former patients as well as new patients.
Dr. Ramirez’s passion for and commitment to women’s health was inspired by her work as a high school volunteer in Latin America, where she was first granted the opportunity to educate and empower women to live healthier lives. She practices compassionate and individualized care centered on a relationship of trust and shared decision-making with her patients. She is sensitive to the unique challenges a woman faces as her health care needs evolve over the course of her lifetime, and is committed to addressing those needs with empathy and evidence-based medicine.
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Dr. Ramirez now considers herself a Texas transplant. Attending the University of Arizona, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies. In addition, she received her medical degree and a Master of Public Health with an emphasis in health policy and administration from the University of Arizona. Deciding to leave the state to complete her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training at UT Health San Antonio, she fell in love with Texas. And who could blame her?
Passionate about teaching, she created a resident-as-teacher curriculum to train her fellow OB/GYN residents in how to be more effective educators to medical students and patients during her residency. She developed other innovative teaching tools, which she presented to medical educators from around the country at the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) Faculty Development Seminar. Dr. Ramirez has been honored with the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award for Humanism and excellence in Teaching.
In April 2018, she and her husband, Aaron, welcomed their daughter, Nayeli, into the world. Outside of medicine and motherhood, Dr. Ramirez enjoys traveling to both new and familiar places, watching football on weekends, and celebrating her multicultural background, especially through culinary adventures with family and friends. She speaks fluent Spanish and is very excited to join the team at North Texas Women’s Health Care Associates.
